If God is for us, who can be against us?

Good Morning. I am still yawning from the time change. I will be happy tonight with daylight savings time, when it is bright and not dark. We spent the weekend at my mom’s house, going through her stuff. Somehow I ended up with a dozen boxes and crates of photo albums and pictures, that I need to sort through and scan. It is a daunting task.

We go through life trying to get the next material thing, and in the end we leave it all behind. If we believe in Jesus, after death, we go to what really matters, heaven. I wonder why it is so satisfying to have stuff. I am so guilty of liking to have stuff. Our peace really comes form God in heaven. All the stuff in the world will not bring me a shred of peace that is even close to the peace from God.

When we live according to the flesh, we set our minds on worldly gain. When we live according to the Spirit, we focus on Godly things. When we focus on our human wants, all we have to look forward to is death. When we focus on God, we get peace and an eternal life in heaven. If we live to please others in this world, we will never please God.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
–Romans 8:5-8 (NKJV)

We can see the world around us. We cannot see God. We cannot see how majestic heaven will be for us. If we hope for what we cannot see, we can wait with perseverance. Perseverance is the persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

Romans8-25

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
–Romans 8:25 (NKJV)

What is really important in the world? Everything in the world is from God. If we face ourselves towards God in heaven, we will be happy and at peace. Nothing will bring us down. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans8-31b

God’s Everlasting Love
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
–Romans 8:31 (NKJV)

  1. Amen 🙏🏿. I can so relate to this post. It’s so easy at times for us to want to take hold of everything. Sometimes, there are things we don’t even need. It’s like going to the store and purchasing items we think we need only to leave it somewhere to discover that it has collected dust and money has been wasted on something we didn’t even put to use for months turned into years. Sometimes, we have to let go. Fix our eyes on not what it seen because what is seen is temporary but that which is unseen is eternal. We must learn to make room. Thank you for sharing 😊
