Key to Happiness

This year has been crazy. This school year may be even crazier. Through it all, God is there for us. God is so good. Sometimes, it is good to reflect on all the good things that God has done for us, and hope for the good things yet to come.

God has done so much in my life. We moved here 5 years ago. Our old neighborhood never felt safe. Dogs would bite joggers and walkers. Families were torn apart. There was a high divorce rate. A few weeks ago, somebody was taking drugs and started firing a gun in the neighborhood. You get the point.

God moved us to a lovely neighborhood. Our house has everything that we need, even things that we didn’t know that we needed. We have some great neighbors. It is safe. We can walk to parks and ride bikes on paths around the neighborhood. We found an amazing church that transformed our family for the better. God has the answer, before we even know what we need.

God is so gracious and compassionate. God is worthy of every praise that we could ever sing.

When the kids go to sleep, I watch a TV series popular a few years ago. The main message to me is that God is the answer. You can have money, success and looks, but without God you are still missing the most important part of life. Some people are beautiful, rich and famous, yet they are still unhappy. If I could get my kids to understand this concept with their whole hearts, I would give them the key to happiness in life.

A Song of God’s Majesty and Love
A Praise of David.
I will extol You, my God, O King;
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty,
And on Your wondrous works.
Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness.
They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.
The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The Lord is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

—Psalm 145:1-9 NKJV
