Have you ever heard the song “Yes and Amen”? The lyrics say that all God’s promises are yes and amen. I have seen the saying that God answers prayers with yes, not yet or I have something better for you.
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
–2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)
When I used to pray, I would ask for vey specific things. It took me awhile to learn how to pray. Now, I bring my concern to God, and ask God to help me. Now, I know that God knows better than anything that I can imagine. God has a plan for me far greater than anything that I can envision. I remember praying almost begging to get a certain job. I didn’t get it and felt dejected. Why didn’t God answer my prayer? My prayer was too limited. A few years later, I found out that the job I wanted so badly, was eliminated. God hears our prayers, and just because it doesn’t work out the way that we hoped does not mean that God is not listening. God is planning something better for you. God wants to bless you with more than you can imagine.
When you pray, you have to surrender and trust in God. You have to accept that God knows better. You have to take that thing that you want and offer it up to God and say I really want this, but God I know you may have a different plan that will work out better for me. Guide me and show me the way, God. All God’s promises are ‘yes’ and ‘amen’. May the glory of God work through us.
