Thanksgiving is in two weeks. I love hearing all the things that people are thankful for in their lives. It is one of my favorite holidays. It gives us a chance to look at our lives and see the countless reasons to be thankful.
It has been a difficult three months, yet I am so thankful for God’s goodness in my life. We found out in August that my mom has stage 4 cancer, a brain tumor. She is in her final stage of life, before Jesus takes her to heaven. I am thankful that God has blessed her with a positive attitude and no pain. I am thankful for the extra time with her. I am thankful that God is carrying me through each day. I have been praying for my family. There have been very stressful moments and interactions with family members, as we struggle to accept the diagnosis. I have felt God with me during these times. The presence is so strong, if feels like an army of angels surrounding me. God has been changing me. Instead of getting defensive or mad, I have been praying for those who lash out at me. I have been letting go of control. I am trusting God to handle my life and everything in it.
I am so thankful for God loving me. God holds me together and guides me. God is so good and kind. When Jesus appeared, he saved us from our sins, not because of the righteous things we have done, but because of God’s mercy. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, our sins were forgiven. We were born again and renewed with the Holy Spirit.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
–Titus 3:4-5 (NIV)
