Choosing Faith Each Day, Mark

God, Help My Unbelief

How do you pray? Do you pray with a wish list? Do you pray to take away your worries and sorrows? Do you pray for others? God wants to hear every prayer, big or small. There is no wrong way to pray.

I read the scripture verse this morning that said when you ask for things in prayer, believe that you will receive them. Sometimes, when I pray I feel it is a wish list. Sometimes, I want to will something into existance.

Mark11-24

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
–Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

Jesus’s instruction is so simple. Pray and believe that your prayer will be answered. So, why does it feel so hard sometimes? My vision is so limited. I can’t see past where I am at right now. God has a big plan for me. Yet, I feel stuck, standing in the same place.

I have to pray that God helps my unbelief. God understands me. God understands you. God is so much bigger than I can imagine. Truly, anything is possible with God. I have to turn off the doubts and fears and all the reasons my prayers cannot be answered. I have to stop replaying my past mistakes constantly in my head. I have to try to see myself as God sees me. Today, I am going to put “I believe” in front of every prayer that I say.

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
–Mark 9:24 (NKJV)

Thank you, Barbara Lane, for sharing the scripture verse above, that speaks to me today.

Prayers

I believe that everything is going to be ok.

I believe that this void inside of me will be filled with comfort and peace from the Holy Spirit.
