Choosing Faith Each Day

Put On the Armor of Light

I am sitting at a my kitchen table looking at the window. The snow started at 6 a.m. this morning, now it is 11 a.m., the snow has covered the trees and grass with a blanket of beautiful white snow. The huge, fluffy snowflakes keep falling and accumulating. It looks like a winter wonderland.

It is easy to get caught up with the world, especially when it looks so beautiful. Everybody looks happy and beautiful. Whenever I fall into the trap of comparing myself to family, friends and neighbors, I always lose. Their worlds look beautiful and perfect, like the winter wonderland outside. I don’t know what their lives look like when the snow melts and everything inside is revealed. I hope their lives are just as picture perfect as the winter wonderland.

Whenever I try to conform to the world, I never find peace. When I spend time at church, at the women’s bible study and reading the bible, I am at peace inside my heart. My soul feels like the peace I see looking outside. I can only find peace when I seek the Lord. There my mind will be renewed and God will reveal wisdom to me.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
–Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

Every morning is another chance to seek God. I don’t know how many mornings that I have on this earth. I pray that I will have enough to see my kids grow-up, get married and have their own kids. Every morning a new day awaits. The best way to start my morning is to read the bible. God can provide me with what I will need for the day. Starting the day with God’s word in my mind, equips me with the armor of light to protect me from Satan’s plans.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
–Romans 13:12 (NKJV)

I want to build up other people, starting with my husband and kids. I spend the most time with them, so I want to take moments to build them up and point out their positive traits. I hope that I can pursue the things for peace and build up others that I encounter in my life.

Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.
–Romans 14:19 (NKJV)

When I see family, friends and neighbors, I should talk to them and see what is going on inside their hearts. When I pursue peace in my own life, I will have the armor of God’s light protecting me. When I pursue peace, I may be able to build up others for God’s glory. Each of us should put on the armor of light today, before going out into the world.
