Trust in the Lord

Each day is a new beginning. Its another chance for hope and blessings. Each day can be full of happiness and laughter. If yesterday was not good, today you get to start again. The best way to start the day is to spend time with the Lord. I am thankful for another day on this earth to spend time with my family. In Psalm 143, David hopes that the morning will bring news of God’s unfailing love for him. David speaks words that speak to my heart. I put my trust in the Lord, show me the way that I should go, because I trust you with my life.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
–Psalm 143:8 (NIV)

In Psalm 143, David was hiding in a cave, so he was going through something pretty intense. Kings don’t usually hide in caves. David was greatly loved by God, and God said that David’s heart was like his own. If David had to go through difficult times, its clear that we will as well. David trusts God with his life and asks God to rescue him from his enemies. David hides himself in the Lord. I picture a man with robes and a small child hiding behind the man. We are God’s children. Sometimes we need help. We should trust in God and not be afraid, but there will be times when we need God to help us to get through our battles. We can pray that God will fight our battles for us.

Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.

David knew that he needed to trust in God. David asked God to teach him to do his will and acknowledged that he was just a man, and God is the mighty one. Even when he was afraid and hiding from his enemies, he trusted that God would fill him with the Holy Spirit and lead him to level ground.

Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.

Just like David, I need God’s wisdom, guidance and protection each morning. I don’t know what the day holds, so I need to start each day by reading God’s word and praying. I know that God is fighting my battles for me, as I start each day. Trust in the Lord, everything is possible for the one that created us.
