Smile and Laugh To Lighten Your Heart and Mood

Today, I was reminded not to take myself so seriously. I usually feel like I am in a spiritual battle in my own world. Everything is intense and can change with the wind.

This afternoon, I went to a doctor’s appointment. The people that I encountered were delightful. We all have messy lives, full of hopes, dreams. insecurities, regrets and heartache. Everybody is trying their best to have a good life. Some people want to travel and show their kids the vastness of the world and explore differant cultures. Some people just want to do well at their job without having an ex-boyfriend walk in as a patient. Some people are doctors trying to do the best for their patients, so they stay healthy and feel better as they walk through life. Even if it means repeating the same thing twenty times patiently. Some people are volunteering and cannot read your text fully, but want to respond to you. All these people are saying, “I see you! You matter.” All these good intentions and desires to do good, make me happy.

Some days a smile, a hug and laughter may be the best thing ever to make your heart flutter with happiness and joy.

My reminder to myself today is not to take myself so seriously. Be strong in my faith for the Lord. Laugh at the days to come, knowing that God will be by my side. Don’t worry about tomorrow. I cannot control it. Instead, I will know that God will give me wisdom and guide my words for his glory.

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
–Proverbs 31:25-26 (NIV)

Smile and laugh to lighten your heart and mood. Your spirit will feel lighter, and your smile and laughter may be contagious to all those around you, so they laugh instead of cry. God can take away our burdens, so laugh and smile when you have the chance to share joy with others.
