God's Character, Jeremiah

For the Lord is the God of Recompense

Have you ever felt like someone was out to destroy you? I don’t mean like in a superhero movie. I mean a person that is systematically trying to break down your reputation, bit by bit. At first, it makes you angry. Then, it makes you sad. At some point, you just let it go and give it to God and ignore it. You wake up each day and try to do God’s will.

God sees everything. God did not ignore it. God did not forget about you.

The “Lord is the God of recompense”. The Merrium-Webster dictionary definition of recompense: an equivalent or a return for something done, suffered, or given. God is going to compensate you for what was done to you. God is going to compensate you for your suffering. God is going to compensate you for what was taken from you.

Because the plunderer comes against her, against Babylon,
And her mighty men are taken.
Every one of their bows is broken;
For the Lord is the God of recompense,
He will surely repay.
–Jeremiah 51:56 (NKJV)

Whatever you have going on your life, give it to God. Right now, I have many prayer requests. Let God fight your battles for you. God will compensate you. It may not be financial. God may give you peace. God may give you the right words to say at the right time. God may restore your reputation. You may just feel relieved and grateful that you no longer have that worry. God did not cause your problem, but God is going to indemnify you against loss. “For the Lord is the God of recompense”.
