I used to be one of those people that planned out everything. It gave me a sense of order and reassurance. I would spend time thinking of possible scenarios or outcomes and how I would handle each outcome.
Over the past two years, I have been getting closer to God. I have realized that I cannot imagine what God will do in my life. Sometimes, I still have tunnel vision and pray for one outcome. I am quickly reminded that God’s plan is far better than my own. I pray that God’s will be done in my life. I pray that God will help me through situations or problems. I pray that God will turn around outcomes in my life for his glory.
I see snarky comments on social media about Christians and the bible. The message of Jesus seems foolish to those in the midst of suffering. If only they could understand the power of God to save them. God will destroy the wisdom of the wise. Those who are prudent and careful will see nothing in return for their judicious approach to life. We can carefully plan out each step in our lives. God can flip our plans upside down in an instant.
Christ the Power and Wisdom of God
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
–1 Corinthians 1:18-19 (NKJV)
God can give us wisdom. We should always praise God and give credit to the Lord. The smartest person in the world was given that gift from the Lord.
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
–1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NKJV)
God can give us wisdom and give us the right words a the right time. God uses the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts, hearts and minds for the glory of God. We should always remember not to trust in the wisdom of people. We should have faith, because of God’s power. God’s wisdom reigns through the universe.
