I went to the women’s bible study this morning. It starts out with singing. We have two amazing ladies who sing and play instruments. I love the singing. The Holy Spirit fills me up and energizes me.
This morning we read the book of Colossians. This is part of the series of epistles that Paul wrote in jail. He wrote letters to the early churches to encourage them. I am so humbled that he was sitting in jail, writing letters, that encourage us today.
One of the verses that spoke me today was about praying to God and singing. Paul said to let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom and teaching one another. Paul said to sing with grace in your heart.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
–Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)
As I was singing this morning, before I read the verse above, I thought about how it felt good to just sing. Instead of thinking about all my concerns, it felt great to sing and praise God. I feel like I am always asking God for help. I was feeling at peace this morning. I realized that I was feeling the peace and comfort from all the prayers being prayed for my mom, my family and me. I had the blessing to sing without worries and praise God. The power of prayer with the Holy Spirit at work, is such an amazing feeling. When you open your heart to God, it feels like you can do anything through Jesus Christ.
Since we are encouraged to sing with grace in our hearts, I am sharing one of songs that I cannot listen to enough lately. Do you ever get a song stuck in your head? I have this one playing lyrics in my head today.
A Song To Sing
“Nobody” by Casting Crowns
Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life, I’ve been told I belong
At the end of a line
With all the other Not-Quites
With all the Never-Get-It-Rights
But it turns out they are the ones You were looking for
All this time
‘Cause I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
Moses had stage fright
And David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would’ve chosen
And You changed the world
Well, the moral of the story is
Everybody’s got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me, saying
“Who do you think you are?” I say
I’m just a nobody trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me, You gave my heart a song to sing
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
So let me go down, down, down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
So let me go down, down, down in history (Go down in history)
As another blood-bought faithful member of the family
(It’s all I ever wanna be) And if they all forget my name, well, that’s fine with me
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus, yeah
I’m just a nobody (Nobody)
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul (Oh, saved my, saved my soul)
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing (You gave me a song to sing)
I’m living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus (Nobody but You, Lord)
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
I’m living for the world to see nobody but Jesus
