Today is Veteran’s Day. I am thankful for all the men and women who have served in the military to protect our freedoms in the United States of America. Those that serve in the military make so many sacrifices. Freedom is not free. Some make the ultimate sacrifice and die, so we can have freedom. I am proud to live in the USA. I pray that my family will never forget all that was lost, so we can have freedom today. Thank you to all those who serve our great country.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
–John 15:13 (NKJV)
This morning, I opened up the bible to the Beatitudes. It reminded me how the military makes so many sacrifices. It is not always comfortable. I can picture our troops walking in the blazing hot desert dressed in full gear. I would imagine that would be downright unbearable. Yet, our soldiers endure it, and keep moving forward. They do it, so all Americans can enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Thank you.
In our world, choosing God is not always easy or comfortable. We have to keep our eyes on heaven and remind ourselves of our ultimate goal.
Blessed are the poor. The kingdom of God will be yours. We may endure struggles on earth, but God will bless us with eternal life in heaven. We will forget our problems on earth and live with God in glory.
Those who are hungry now, will be full. God will give us an abundance in heaven.
Blessed are those who weep now, they will laugh. God will take away our grief and fill us with joy and laughter.
Blessed are you when men hate you. God sees how you are excluded. God sees those being angrily criticized and verbally assaulted. God sees those being cast out. God sees your loneliness and sadness. When you endure all this in the name of Jesus, you will be rewarded. God will turn your sorrow to joy. You will leap for joy! God has great rewards for us in heaven.
The Beatitudes
Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
–Luke 6:20-23 (NKJV)
Now, you may endure struggles. One day, you will leap for joy. I pray that all your struggles turn to joy.
