Thanksgiving is almost here. Two more days. I love Thanksgiving. I love turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and thanking God for all my blessings. Sometimes, it can be tense. You see family members that you only see a few times a year. Some family members know you, and still see you how you were. Even if you changed, and continue to change, they do not acknowledge it.
I am reminding myself that nobody is perfect. I have made mistakes, and as long as I am human, I will make mistakes. Thanksgiving is a time be thankful and forget about all the “stuff” that has happened. Save the “stuff” for the stuffing.
Jesus told his apostles to be peaceful. Jesus wanted the apostles to receive the Holy Spirit. Jesus wanted them to forgive others and not hold onto the weight of not forgiving themselves or others. All that “stuff” burdens us. It is a day to be thankful and give the burdens weighing you down, to God.
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
–John 20:21-23 (NKJV)
On Thursday, I pray that we give all the bad “stuff” to God and focus on being thankful for the good stuff. Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving full of blessings and boundless love!
