Choosing Faith Each Day, Paul, Psalm, Timothy, Trusting in God

God Fights For Us

I hope that all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I hope that everyone reading this today has many reasons to be thankful.

Over the past year, I have been getting closer to God. The closer I get to God, the more thankful I am that God is so, so good. Everything good comes from God.

God’s love for us reaches far and wide. God loves us to the heavens and back. God’s love for us is true and pure. God wants the best for us.

Psalm36.jpg

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
–Psalm 36:5 (NIV)

Life isn’t always perfect. It would be nice to glide through life without problems or worries, but I think that is what heaven must be like.

God is there to help us through this life. When people are not nice to me, I now remind myself that God is good. When people are not nice, that is not from God. Satan wants to divide us and cause strife and discord. Satan loves to stir up angry, bitter emotions. Now, that I know the source, only God can fight for me against Satan. It is natural to get angry. We can determine how we handle our anger, with the help of God. I try not to stay angry, so I do not give Satan a place to sneak into my head.

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.
–Ephesians 4:26-27 (NKJV)

How do you feel when you are angry? My first instinct is to be strike back. Now, I try not to do that anymore. Instead, when insults and attacks from others start replaying in my mind, I pray for the people involved. I pray that God will give them and me hearts and minds like Jesus Christ. I am left with peace. Satan has no hold on me, when I pray. God goes in and fights my battles for me.

When negativity starts creeping into my thoughts, I have to turn to God. When Satan is trying to attack me and engage me, I start praying. Even though I am being taunted to engage in a fight, I have to walk away. Even though I am invited, I do not have to participate. I now trust in God, and pray that he fights for me.

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life
–2 Timothy 2:4 (NKJV)

I do not have to be afraid of anything. My God is bigger than everything. God created the heavens and earth. People around me can criticize me and make fun of me. I am looking towards God. If I do God’s will, that is all that matters. I have come to accept that I will never please some people in my life. When I do what is good and pleasing to God, I am happy, content and peaceful.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
–2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

God has not given us the spirit of fear. God gives us the spirit of power and love and a sound mind. God gives us peace. God fights for us.
