Let God’s Will Be Done

God made each of us with a purpose. God created us, wanting us to fulfill our predestined purpose. We have to trust in God and pray to do God’s will each day.

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
–Ephesians 1:11-12 (NKJV)

I keep thinking about the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. Joseph was the son of Rachel, and his dad, Jacob, loved and favored him. Jacob made his son a coat of many colors, that made his brothers jealous. Jacob’s brothers saw that their father loved Jacob the most and that infuriated them. They hated Jacob and could not say anything nice about him.

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.
–Genesis 37:3-4 (NKJV)

Jacob’s Brothers hated him so much, that they sold him into slavery in Egypt. I often wonder how Joseph felt. Did he feel sorry for himself and think my brothers hate me so much that they sold me into slavery? I am intrigued with how he accepted what happened to him.

Joseph trusted in the Lord. Joseph had amazing faith. Joseph loved God and knew that God would take care of him. God didn’t let him down. God took care of Joseph. God made him successful.

The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
–Genesis 39:2 (NKJV)

Instead of dwelling on all that has gone wrong, we should focus on serving God. And, God will take care of us. Whatever is going on in our lives that is difficult, we should pray that it will be for God’s good will. Let God’s will be done.
