Meditate on the Lord’s Name

Good afternoon! Today, the sun is out and the temperature is mild. It almost feels like a Spring day. I will enjoy the weather today. The weather forecast is calling for snow on Saturday. The kids will be happy.

I feel a mix of emotions today. My thoughts are going in all directions. My mind needed peace, and I read the perfect scriptures verses for today. I opened the bible to the book of Malachi. I have not read this book before. It is a minor prophet, and less than 4 pages long. The pages of my bible, for this book, look so white and pristine. There is not a pen mark or written note anywhere.

Lately, I have been praying that I always keep the Lord first in my life, and that my children will as well. I pray that they will not make all the mistakes that I made.

I read “A Book of Remembrance”. It says that those who fear the Lord spoke to one another. I picture people from the bible study or from church Sunday talking to each other. Anyone can fear the Lord, you don’t have to go to church, but once you know the goodness of God, you will want to go to church. The Lord listened and heard them. A book of remembrance was written before him. I imagine angels singing and writing names in a book of those who fear God and meditate on his name, while the Lord is happy. We are all children of God. The Lord says those written in the book shall be mine. The Lord will treasure those like precious jewels and spare them from harm.

A Book of Remembrance

Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

“They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts,
“On the day that I make them My jewels.
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.”
–Malachi 3:16-17 (NKJV)

What more could you want than be called one of the Lord’s jewels? This life goes by way too fast. In the end, the relationships we formed, matter the most. We cannot take one material thing with us. The one thing that we can look forward to is being with God in heaven, all our pain will be left behind. We will be reunited with loved ones. We will see all the goodness of God. As we go through life, God will shield us from a great deal of trouble. We will still have pain and suffering, but God will carry us through it. God can give our hearts peace and rest. We just need to fear the Lord and meditate on the Lord’s name.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
