Hope and Peace, Isaiah, Paul, Psalm, Romans, Thessalonians

God’s Peace Makes Us Complete

Some days are full of worries and doubts. It happens to all of us.

I rely on the comfort that God gives my heart. God gives us hope and peace. God sets our path in life, so we can walk on it and establish every good word and work.

2Thessalonians2-16-17

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.
–2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NKJV)

Not every moment can be peaceful. When we get mad, God can help us control our anger. Instead of responding with harsh words, God can silence us. God can help us respond with an even voice and kind words or in some cases, God helps us to not respond at all. God can make our anger fizzle out and dissolve in an instant. The important thing is that we don’t carry anger around in our hearts, because it will eat away at us and give Satan a space to get into our heads. Satan loves to replay our past mistakes or how people have wronged us. Satan loves our anger, discontentment, worries, doubts and fears. I picture the evil witch laughing with delight.

When I am having a difficult time, I put scripture verses on post it notes. I read them throughout the day and before I go to sleep. The best way to fight off spiritual attacks are with scripture verses. In the bible, Jesus fasted for 40 days and was tempted by Satan. Jesus responded to each temptation with a verse from the bible. I now understand why we are supposed to memorize bible verses that speak to us. Memorization is not one of my gifts, but even I recall the verses I need, at the right moment.

These are some of the verses that I recite, when I feel worried and distressed or I cannot stop replaying back past mistakes or what people have said to me. They give my heart peace and comfort.

If God is for us, who can be against us?
–Romans 8:31 (NKJV)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper
–Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

The Lord is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
–Psalm 118:6 (NKJV)

God is bigger than whatever you are going through. Some days, God has to carry us through. God is always there for us ready to give us peace and comfort. Who doesn’t need peace in their heart? Even famous people, who seem to have everything, sometimes do not have peace. God will fill that empty space inside of us, where we think something is missing. God’s peace makes us complete.
