Mark

Peace and Strength

Do you ever have one of those days, where everything just feels overwhelming? You are not alone. Jesus had days like this too. When he prayed in the garden, he knew that he was going to fulfill scriptures. He knew that he would be crucified on the cross and die as a sacrifice to forgive our sins.

Jesus prayed in the garden before it all happened. He prayed to God saying, Father, all things are possible for you. He prayed that God would ‘Take this cup away from Me”. He prayed that God’s will be done and not his own.

And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
–Mark 14:36 (NKJV)

Doing God’s will is not always easy. We have so many emotions. We can be angry, sad, happy, annoyed, anxious, just to name a few. It can be hard to let it all go and pray to do God’s will. When Jesus felt sorrow, he prayed for hours. I don’t know if the sorrow left him, or if God gave him the strength to go forward, knowing he was going to die on the cross for us.

Whatever you have going on in your life, pray. God may give you peace, or he may give you the strength to keep on going or both.
