Corinthians, Jeremiah, Love and Praise

Your Life Is a Prize

Good morning! Valentine’s Day is on Friday. Are you ready to celebrate love? Love is an important part of life. Love makes us happy. Love lights us up from within.

In the bible, it says that you can have wisdom and knowledge and have everything, yet without love, you have nothing. Romantic love is pretty great, but love is not just romantic. There are so many ways to love others through kindness, laughter and caring. We love our spouse and family. We love our our children. Babies require love through cuddles and hugs in order to thrive and grow. We should love our neighbors and friends. We should also love ourselves.

1Corinthians13-2

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
–1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV)

There is a term called “self care” that is new to me. We are supposed to take care of our mental, physical and emotional health. The Holy Spirit lives in each of us, so our bodies are holy. The bible says “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you”. How would you treat a holy place of worship? We treat our church with respect and reverance. We were each bought at a price. We should glorify God in our body and spirit, because we belong to God.

1Corinthians6-19-20

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
–1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV)

Do you consider your life a prize? Are you excited to start each day wondering what wondrous thing awaits you? I think that is how God wants us to live. When we turn to God and put our trust completely in him, we are safe. I remember when my daughter was little, when my husband held her, she turned into a tough kid. She had opinions and made faces. She was safely held in her father’s arms, so she knew that she was protected and was free to be herself. God still wants to hold us and protect us. God wants us to see how valuable we are. God wants us to trust in him.

Jeremiah39-18

For I will surely deliver you, and you shall not fall by the sword; but your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me,” says the Lord.’ ”
–Jeremiah 39:18 (NKJV)

I needed to read these verses today. I focus so much on others, I forget that God wants me to take care of myself too. I really need to focus on healthy eating and exercise, which also improves my outlook on life. I am one of God’s children, loved, adored and cherished, so I need to live my life like it is a prize from the Lord.
