I was reading the book of Ezekiel this morning. I was struck by the level of detail. It has pages of exact measurements and dimensions for a temple. It even talks about future inheritances.
God planned where trees will grow along the river bank. The trees will consistently produce food every month for us to eat. The leaves will be for medicine.
“Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.”
–Ezekiel 47:12 (NKJV)
God has everything planned out for us. Every detail is set.
We cling to what we know and don’t open our minds to the vastness of the Lord’s knowledge. We can give ourselves too much credit and become arrogant. We think that we know so much.
Compared to the Lord, we know nothing.
Sometimes, I realize that I am so focused on the Lord, that I forgot how other people see me and judge me. Some people focus on how I look, or the exact words that I say. God sees all of me, good and bad. God knows what I need to work on. God sees me for the purpose in which he made me.
God knows the very depths of our hearts. When we see ourselves as God sees us, we see how beautiful we are. We see how God made us.
Would not God search this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
–Psalm 44:21 (NKJV)
Some people are beautiful on the outside, but they lack depth in their hearts. Some people are so focused on their hearts, they forget that others are judging them on the outside, by their appearance and spoken words.
God is the only one that can look into our hearts and see every hidden motive. God loves a pure heart. God blesses the pure in heart, they will see him.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
–Matthew 5:8 (NKJV)
We can pray for a pure heart. We could all use a pure heart and steadfast spirit.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
–Psalm 51:10 (NKJV)
Our bodies are temples to God. We were bought at a price. We should glorify God with our bodies. Everything that we eat or drink should please God. Everything that we do with our bodies should glorify God.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
-1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV)
I find that I focus on my heart or my body, when I need to focus on both. God made all of me for a reason. I pray that I live up to the purpose that God created me.
Prayer
Dear God,
I pray that you give me a clean heart.
I pray that you renew a steadfast spirit inside of me.
I pray that you give me a pure heart.
I pray that I never forget my body is a temple to the Lord.
I pray that I honor God with how I treat my body.
I pray that I eat the fruits from the trees that the Lord made for us.
Amen
And we can always find who we are in the bible…How amazing

I love this…..we try to find our purpose outside here when everything that the Lord has already predestined for us is already inside of us…we only need to align our hearts to him
