The news has been consumed with reports on the Coronavirus for over two months. I would watch the news every night to see how many cases were in the D.C. Metro area, and take pictures of the map every day. Every night I would review how many more cases were in my county, from the day before. Right now, we are still in Phase 1 of the Quarantine. We don’t know if schools will return to full capacity in the Fall, it seems highly unlikely. Sinister looking bugs that can kill humans, called murder hornets, made the news for a few days. Now, the news is filled with injustices and riots.
The world seems like a scary, uncertain place right now.
We should not trust in ourselves. We should trust in God. We look at the world, and it is scary with the Coronavirus, injustice, racism and uncertainty everywhere. God delivered us from our sin. God continues to deliver us each day. We have to trust that God will still deliver us. Don’t look at the world, look up to God.
Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us
—2 Corinthians 1:9-10 (NKJV)
Waves of emotions overwhelm me, anger about injustice, fear about what is happening in the world, uncertainty about everything that used to be so clear and well defined. I need to be still. I need to pray that God’s peace from the Holy Spirit will wash over me.
God’s promises are Yes and Amen. The glory of God can shine through us. I pray that God’s glory will shine through each of us, and spread like wildfire throughout the world.
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
—2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)
God Is Still In Charge
Yesterday, I read a fantastic blog post, Hello June, by Queen Karen, reminding us that God is still in charge. It is a really good read.
