Ecclesiastes, God's Character, Hope and Peace

Everything Has Its Time

We have had so much time lately. How have you been using your time?

This morning, I opened the bible to Ecclesiastes. There is a time for every purpose under heaven. We have seasons of life. During this Quarantine, for me, it has been a time to heal, and a time to build up.

I was feeling disappointed this morning. We canceled our summer vacation plans months ago. Recently, our friends asked us to stay with them at their beach house. After being home for 2 months, I really wanted to go! We just could not make it happen. I feel so sad.

When I opened up the bible, I read that God has a time for everything. So, I took a deep breath and accepted that this was not a time for us to go away. Even though, I can imagine the sound of waves crashing, the feeling of sand between my toes, feeling a gentle ocean breeze, and smelling the salty air. When God wants us to go, it will be amazing.

Everything Has Its Time

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
—Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NKJV)

Sometimes, when we really want something, it is so hard to stop wanting it. Right? It is like when I can’t have it, I want it even more. I have to let go. God’s timing is always perfect. God has something better waiting for us in the future.

God is so good. Whatever God does will be forever. Nothing can be added. Nothing can be taken away. God does it, and we should know that God has the power to give and take away.

I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever.
Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.

—Ecclesiastes 3:14 (NKJV)

We have seasons of life. They change. Life is mixed with happiness and sadness. This Quarantine has been a ‘time to refrain from embracing’ and ‘a time to throw away’, for sure. We can prepare to move into the next season of our lives, knowing that God’s timing is perfect and eternal.

Thank you for reading my blog today. I pray that you have more times to laugh, dance, love and embrace!
