Some days don’t start great. It feels like everyone is yelling and mad at everything. These are the days, that I ask my children to read a devotional out loud. Then, we pray. It resets our day, and the rest of the day unfolds in a more peaceful way.
My first reaction, when people are accusing me or angry with me is to yell back. It makes me feel angry and mad inside, and my mind gets polluted with mean thoughts. I noticed yesterday, when my daughter was corrected, she responded by being mad. She was grumpy about everything and even mad at her beloved puppy. Isn’t that how we all feel when somebody speaks rudely or harshly to us? It turns our happy mood into a sour one.
Anger and hatred are toxic. Hatred stirs up conflict and angry feelings that can ruin our day, our week, and if we don’t let it go, anger can destroy our lives. We all feel mad, wronged or angry sometimes. So, what should we do?
The bible says hatred stirs up strife and love covers all sins.
Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all sins.
—Proverbs 10:12 NKJV

The best response, is not to respond to anger and hatred. Pray to God.
Our God is love and pure goodness. God’s only son, Jesus, died on a cross to free us from our sins, that is how much God loves us.
God can remove the urge to respond harshly when someone is angry or mean to us. God can give us strength to remain silent, when others lash out at us. God will give us wisdom on when to remain silent and when to speak the truth. God can protect our hearts from absorbing the negativity. God never steers us wrong. When we pray, God can remove the anger and hatred and replace these feelings with love.
Love covers all sins. Love releases the bad feelings. God frees our hearts with love.
