2 Chronicles, Choosing Faith Each Day

Return to God With All of Your Heart

In the Old Testament, Josiah restores true worship. When we stray away from God, and feel compelled to return to God, we do so with gusto. Once you live in the presence of God as a believer, you never want to live your life without Jesus. You feel safe and protected, even in storms, because you are. When we stray from God and realize the source of all our problems is that we left the Lord, we can’t go back fast enough.

The urge to return to God is so strong, that the king gathered all the religious elders, men and all people of Jerusalem to read from the Book of the Covenant. The king wanted to publicly proclaim that he will follow the Lord and keep his commandments and statutes with all his heart and all his soul

Josiah Restores True Worship
Then the king sent and gathered all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. The king went up to the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the Levites, and all the people, great and small. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the Lord. Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.
—2 Chronicles 34:29-31

God wants our hearts and souls. God loves us regardless weather we know him yet. If we know Jesus, God will keep drawing us closer and giving us wisdom. God loves when we seek him with all our hearts.

When we face a challenge, know that God can handle it. There is no challenge too small or big for our mighty God. It may seem overwhelming and daunting to us, but it is not for God. Sometimes, we have to believe that God has our problem in his hands, and even though we cannot figure it out, God can. We have to let go and trust in God. It can be a relationship, a mental struggle or a physical challenge. God has all of it. Return to God with all of your heart.

Prayer

Dear God,

You are the all mighty creator of heaven and earth. I know your power reigns supreme. You are good and loving and want us to know you. You have good plans for us. Help us let go of our doubts and fears. Your ways are greater than our ways. Your ways are higher than anything that we can imagine. I put my struggles before you and ask you to fight my battles for me. I pray that you will equip me with what I need and give me me the strength to overcome anything. In the name of our Lord Jesus, thank you and all praise to you, God.

Amen
