God’s Purpose For Men and Women

Every human was created for a purpose. God has given each of us unique gifts that can be used for God’s good purpose. Adam was the first human created, and God tasked him with tending the Garden of Eden. At the beginning of the bible, God lays out his plan.

Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
—Genesis 2:15 NKJV

God invited Adam to freely eat from every tree, except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because he would surely die. Would he die physically? No, so I think God meant the sin would kill him, if he ate from the tree.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
—Genesis 2:16-17 NKJV

Adam named every animal and amazing creature that God had created. A suitable companion was not found.

And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
—Genesis 2:18-20 NKJV

God didn’t want man to be alone, so he created a suitable companion, a woman. God put Adam in a deep sleep, removed a rib and created a woman.

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

And Adam said:

“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

—Genesis 2:21-23 NKJV

God’s Plan for Marriage From Creation

Immediately after creating a companion for Adam, God planned for one man and one woman to marry, leave their parents home, become one flesh and have children. God created the first man and first woman, and he already planned for them to marry and leave their family home to create a life together.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
—Genesis 2:24-25 NKJV

God had a plan for us from the very beginning, that is stated on the second page in the bible.
