God Is Our Creator
The concept of the Trinity, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit is mind blowing. I have come to understand it more, by realizing that God lives outside of time.
God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were at the beginning of time, now and will be here forever. They are eternal.
At the very beginning, God created the world. God created humans. He said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”. Who is Us? God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. (I bolded “Us” and “Our” to illustrate the Trinity).
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
—Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV
The Father
On earth, a father and a mother create a child together. Our heavenly Father created everything in the universe. God is our eternal heavenly Father.
But now, O Lord,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand.
—Isaiah 64:8 NKJV
The Son, Jesus
God created all of heaven an earth.
The Eternal Word
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
—John 1:1-3 NKJV
Jesus was at the beginning of time, because he is God. All humans are sinners, so we need a Savior to save us from our sins. Our path to redemption is believing that Jesus died for our sins. God created us and only God can save us. All we have to do is believe in Jesus.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
—John 1:14-18 NIV
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit was present at creation. (I bolded the “Spirit of God” in the scripture verses below).
The History of Creation
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
—Genesis 1:1-2 NKJV
The Holy Spirit guides us. When you feel that gentle nudge to do something or not to do something, that is The Holy Spirit.
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.
—John 16:12-14 NIV
