Choosing Faith Each Day, God's timing is always perfect, Romans, Trusting in God

Let God Write Your Story

When I was younger, I planned out everything and was upset when life didn’t go as I planned it.

Eleven years ago, my husband lost his job, a few months later I had a hard surgery and my dad passed away. It was rough, excruciating to be honest. Would I ever want to go through it again. Not a chance! I do thank God for it. That period of time required a choice, and I choose to trust in God. This was a battle. I had to let go of myself and give everything to God. I had to stop thinking about my past mistakes, and oh yes there were tons to bring me down. God is bigger than any mistake, and His grace and forgiveness are immeasurable.

God has come through for us in every way. Now, when God calls me to do something, I do it, even when it makes no sense to me. I know God can see my life at a glance, from the beginning when He created me to the end when I hope to go to heaven to be with Him.

When my husband lost his job 11 years ago, I became a stay at home mom. I desperately wanted to be one. It wasn’t easy, money was tight, and it was stressful at times. It was worth every minute that I was able to be with my kids. A year ago, the “steady, safe, secure” job that I had was eliminated, along with thousands of other jobs in my field. My former colleagues are still looking for jobs. If I had spent 10 years working, I would have missed my kids growing up and lost my job when they were in 7th and 9th grades. Thank God for the time that I got to spend with my kids.

So now, we are faced with something that I thought was done and over, left in the past. My husband’s job ends next week. I feel strangely comforted. I think of the lines from the song, “Firm Foundation” by Chandler Moore & Cody Carnes at Maverick City Music.: “I have peace that makes no sense”.

Having gone through this 11 years ago, I have to ask myself now if I am crazy or stupid. Why do I know that everything is going to work out? I have no evidence in front of me. No job offer.

Now I know something that I didn’t back then. I trust in God. I know God is going to take care of me and my family. The Holy Spirit gives my heart peace.

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,

And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

—Romans 9:33 NKJV

I can’t tell you what is going to happen next. I don’t know when something will happen. We are praying that this time, we will learn fast, so it won’t take 7 months.

In the car, the song, “Thank God” by Leanna Crawford played. The line “Just let Him write your story” stuck in my head.

I don’t know the next page, but I know that I am going to trust in God, and let God write our story.
