Choices, Choosing Faith Each Day, God is the light, Isaiah, Trusting in God

Obey The Lord, and God Will Provide For You

We don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. All we can see is what is happening in our lives right now. If the future seems uncertain, I am right there with you. Not knowing what is next can cause worry, fear and anxiety, but it doesn’t have to invoke these feelings.

When you trust in God, you can obey Him. Even if you don’t know why God is nudging you to do something, you should follow God’s lead. Know that God would never lead you to do anything harmful or destructive to yourself or others. For example, I felt a nudge to homeschool my kids. I prayed about it and clearly read bible verses that confirmed it. First I prayed and asked God if I should homeschool. I opened the bible and read “lead my sheep”. Then, I prayed wondering if I could actually do it, and I opened up to Daniel where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown in the fiery furnace, and they were not alone, the Son of God was with them. So, I knew God would equip me for what I needed. I homeschooled for a few years, and every day I woke up and prayed that God would equip me with I needed. God prepared my kids for their next chapter during this time.

I honestly don’t know what God is calling me to do next. I do know God wants me to read the bible and write posts about our journey.

Today I read Isaiah 1. It says to stop sinning and turn from doing evil. It says to learn to do good. The word learn stood out to me, like if you don’t know how to do good learn it. Then there is a list: seek justice, help the people pushed down in society, defined orphans and fight for widows.

Our sins are bad, but God will forgive us. There are two references to red turning white, through the blood of Jesus we are made new again.

When we obey the Lord, we will have plenty to eat. God will provide for us. However, if we refuse to listen, we will be devoured by our enemies.

Obey the Lord, and God will Provide for you.

Wash yourselves and be clean!
Get your sins out of my sight.
Give up your evil ways.

Learn to do good.
Seek justice.
Help the oppressed.
Defend the cause of orphans.
Fight for the rights of widows.

“Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.

If you will only obey me,
you will have plenty to eat.

But if you turn away and refuse to listen,
you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”

—Isaiah 1:16-20 (NLT)
