God's Character

The Holy Spirit Warns Us Of Danger

Yesterday, I was reminded of just how powerful the Lord works in our lives. When we seek God and have a personal relationship with God, we will be protected. I don’t know how many times God has protected me and my family. Thank you, God, for watching over us each day.

Yesterday, a had a scary thing happen. It was like nothing happened, yet everything happened in a few brief moments. After picking up the kids at the bus stop yesterday, I saw a landscaping truck drive slowly by the side of my house. We live on the corner, so there is a street to the right side of our house and a street in front of our house. My kids had run to their favorite tree and climbed it, as I got the mail. I saw the truck and did not recognize it. It was not the landscaper that most of our neighbors use for their lawn. It was a different color and driving very slowly. A little warning light went off in my head, ‘its just a landscaping truck,’ I thought. I brought the mail inside and immediately walked to the window directly in front of the tree that my kids were playing in. That truck with the huge trailer was driving slowly in front of my house. How did it turn around so quickly? I knocked on the window and yelled at my kids to come inside, as the truck was doing another u turn to drive past our house for the third time. I ran to the garage door, opened the door from inside the house and screamed, “Come inside now!” My daughter was in the garage, a few steps away from the door. I screamed for my son to get inside. At that moment, he appeared and bent over to pick up his back pack in the driveway. He was almost inside the garage. As he was getting his back pack, I looked to the right, and the truck had stopped. The passenger had gotten out of the car and was facing us. I stared at him knowing that he was looking at my son and me and judging the time and distance, it would take to get to him. As soon as my son was inside, I closed the garage and locked the door to the house. I ran to the front window and tried to take a picture of the truck, but it took off.

So, what was that? Should I report it to the police? Logically, it was just a landscaping truck driving around the neighborhood. The person who got out of the car didn’t speak to any of us, didn’t leave anything in our mail box, and didn’t try to grab my kids. In fact, he only got out of truck and looked at us. I was shaken, after it happened. My kids had an adrenaline of too much energy. I honestly believe with everything in my heart, that the Holy Spirit was warning me of danger. It was like a scene unfolding in slow motion before my eyes, an abducton stopped, before it was even allowed to start. When I told my husband about it later, he told me that the day before an 8 year old girl had been taken in broad daylight. It was in Texas. The girl was walking with her mom. The abductor grabbed the child from her mom, knocked her mom down and drove off. The mom had the man’s bracelet in her hand, because she fought the attacker. The girl was found. The person that helped find her was a pastor. The police officers called him a hero, and he said that he was merely a tool used by God. “I feel like God allowed me to be a tool,” said a local pastor. I had not heard about the girl in Texas, but I cried, as I watched the videos, thanking God that my children were safe. Local Pastor Gave Police Tip That Led to Sabatka’s Rescue

My husband always says that if I feel that we should not do something with our kids, to listen to that voice right away, because its always right. Now, I know its the Holy Spirit. Who knew we had own little security system inside of us, installed by God? This isn’t the first warning I have had. This was an intense warning though, while I was awake. My past warnings, while I was awake, have not been as intense. They were like little nudges. This was like fire alarm in my head. This was fast paced and crystal clear. Perhaps in the past, danger was not so close, and the warning light was still going off in my head.

I tried to explain to my kids that they need to be aware of their surroundings. I was also trying to explain how to put in a 911 call to God.  I told them if they ever have a feeling of danger, or something not being right, to stop and listen to that feeling. I told them to pray to God and ask God what to do. I told them that God will answer, and they have to do it. I was not even sure how to name that feeling, but I thought that it may be the Holy Spirit. I looked it up, and yes that feeling is the Holy Spirit. It is God talking to us through the Holy Spirit.

God’s Spirit Poured Out
“And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
–Joel 2:28-29 (NKJV)

I have always heard about the Holy Spirit, since I was a child. The trinity. The clover. God, The Holy Spirit and Jesus. God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit. God pours his Holy Spirit upon us. The bible mentions ‘prophesy’, ‘dreams’, and ‘visions’. God can use the Holy Spirit to protect us from danger. If you have a little blinking warning alarm going off in your head, don’t ignore it, until it goes off into a full fire alarm screaming at you! Tune in, listen and take action.

We have an almighty God. There is only one true God. Our God is living. God is the everlasting King. The earth will tremble at his anger. No nation will endure God’s anger. There are no other gods, only one true God that made heaven and earth by his power. God’s wisdom created the earth. God arranged the heavens with his judgement and care. God utters his voice and rain falls from the heavens, and lightning flashes in the sky. God brings wind forth out of his treasuries.

But the Lord is the true God;
He is the living God and the everlasting King.
At His wrath the earth will tremble,
And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.

Thus you shall say to them: “The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.”

He has made the earth by His power,
He has established the world by His wisdom,
And has stretched out the heavens at His discretion.
When He utters His voice,
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
“And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”
–Jeremiah 10:10-13 (NKJV)

There are so many things that we do not know. God, the maker of heaven and earth, knows all and sees all. God is amazing and uses his people to do his good works. When something extraordinary happens, I am once again reminded of the majesty of God. I always know it, but I am walking around on this earth, content with the feelings of peace God has poured on me. Then, I see a flash of how God protects us. Truly, I am humbled. I am grateful. I am in awe of our God. Thank you, God, for giving us the gift of the Holy Spirit. Wow, what an amazing gift.
