Good morning. Yesterday was sunny and warm in Virginia. The neighborhood kids happily played and ran outside, soaking in the sun and warmth. I am not a fan of hot weather, but yesterday was in the mild mid-70’s. It was quite nice. Today, it is rainy and chilly, and I cannot get warm. In a few hours, that will change too. I will be warm and forget the chill in the air from this morning.
Life always changes. Yesterday, I was looking at boxes from my mom’s house piled in my family room. It seemed overwhelming and chaotic. Today, there is only a basket and few items left. What seemed overwhelming, now seems easy peasy.
Do you have a situation in your life that seems insurmountable? It is so easy to get overwhelmed and consumed by our worries, doubts and fears. I have big problems and small worries. I sure know how to blow up a small worry, so it will consume my heart and mind and try to take away my peace and happiness.
No worry or fear is too small for God. Give every worry to God. Don’t be like me and inflate a worry into a full blown imagined fear. Let God take every worry from you. Let every worry float away.
Don’t worry about the big problem. Pray and take a step forward. With God guiding your steps, you will soon be at a place where it is neatly ordered, organized and everything is in place. I always look back in awe, realizing God had this plan for me. I just had to have faith to walk through the storm. Going through the storm is not easy. God will help you. It is like wearing a blindfold with a friend leading you to the surprise. You have to take steps, not knowing your final destination. You need to trust that God is leading you to a better place. Step by step, God knows the outcome.
God will always lead us to triumph in Jesus Christ. When we are faithful and trust in God, others see us. Our faith “diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” A fragrance is a pleasant, sweet smell. Diffuses means to to spread over a wide area or among a large number of people. Our faith is a pleasant aroma of peace to those being saved, and a sweet hope to cling to, for those perishing.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
–2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (NKJV)
I often wonder what my purpose is in life. Maybe, it is not that complicated. Maybe, it is to live my imperfect life, as faithfully as I can each day. To some, all they look forward to is death, so this is the only life. Live it up. To others, faith brings the pleasant aroma of our life leading to a better life in heaven. Who is good enough for a glorious life in heaven? None of us. Yet, God loves us so much, he gave us an out. If we accept that Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins, we are saved. Are we trying to sell the word of God? No, we speak sincerely, because we know how great it feels to live faithfully, in God’s love.
To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
–2 Corinthians 2:16-17 (NKJV)
Live faithfully. Maybe our purpose in life is not so complex.
