Psalm, Trusting in God

My Help Comes From The Lord

This year has been very difficult for many people. People are losing their jobs. Small business are struggling to stay open. Parents are facing tough decisions, as schools go virtual, making two income families wonder how they will get through this year. Many people are wondering how they will pay their bills, and if they will lose their homes.

We worry about our loved ones getting sick from this virus. It is like an invisible threat is following us around, as we try to go about living our lives. It feels like the world isn’t a safe place anymore.

It is very clear that there his only one source of hope, and it is God.

I have been reading the Action Bible with my kids. My son’s favorite story is David and Goliath. Nobody could defeat Golith. David is a small boy, and the giant, Golith, laughs at him. David knew in his heart the way to defeat Golith. David had faith. He had complete and utter faith in God. David took his sling shot out, aimed, and said that God will use the sling shot to defeat Golith. God came all the way through. God used David’s faith and his sling shot to take down a giant.

During this pandemic, many of us are feeling like a giant is standing there mocking us, as it destroys our lives. Yes, our lives are being turned upside down. There is only one source of strength, that is strong enough to protect us. It is the Lord.

Turn your eyes away from what you see.

Close your eyes and pray to God. Lift your eyes up to the mountains and know in your heart and your help will come from the Lord. The maker of heaven and earth will hear you. The Lord will watch over his children. The Lord will keep you from harm. The Lord will not let you slip.

Psalm 121
A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
—Psalm 121 NIV
