God Is Our Portion Forever

Some days, I feel weary. This pandemic was enough to make even the brightest, most optimistic person feel weary at times.

Life can be so wonderful and pure bliss, then other times, out of nowhere, you feel defeated. In those moments, we need God. When we get consumed about the past and start replaying all the times we were hurt and felt loss, we are reliving all that pain for no reason. God comforts those who mourn. God forgives us and blots out our sins, so we shouldn’t dwell on the past either, because it will keep us from the future goodness that God has planned for us.

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
And I will not remember your sins.
—Isaiah 43:25 NKJV

God is there to guide us. God is there to love us. God has amazing plans for us. God thinks we deserve all the goodness, that he has planned for us. Don’t sabotage yourself. Trust in God. Believe that you are loved and worthy of all his grace and goodness. God believes it.

God is our strength. When we can’t do something, we can believe in the one who can do everything. God wants to receive us in glory. God can make us strong in areas we are weak. God sees the whole picture and reveals it to us in pieces. We should move forward, trusting in God with every new step. It can seem unsure or scary. I doubt myself. I wonder if some things are even possible. I see doubt in the eyes of others. It doesn’t matter what others say. Trade in that doubt for trusting in the Lord’s guidance, knowing that God is our strength. God will carry us all the way through, when we call upon his name. God doesn’t make mistakes.

Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand.
You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
—Psalm 73:23-26 NKJV

The world will hurt our hearts. Our bodies will fail us. But, we have now. We have this moment. Every day is a gift from the Lord. God has plans for us. Nothing is a waste. Embrace each day and live it to the fullest, knowing that God is our portion forever.
