Jeremiah, Trusting in God

When people show you their true nature, don’t get mad. Believe them.

Yesterday, a child in the neighborhood rang the doorbell. It was one of my son’s friends. They play together, but not as much recently. I thought he wanted to play, so I told him we were going out and would be home tomorrow. He nodded. He had a handmade flyer in his hand, and asked that I give it to my son. I smiled and said “bye”.

I looked down at the flyer. It had a hand drawn picture and writing, and it said that there was laser tag at his house for $3 for 14 minutes. My smile turned into a frown as I shook my head in disbelief. Who did this person think he was, trying to charge my child money, to play a game with him? We have the same game at our house. I know it was probably a business idea. I get that. I don’t understand why money has become so important, that kids feel the need to ask their friends and neighbors to pay to play with them. When people tell you who they really are, don’t get mad. Believe them. Be thankful that you know the truth.

My children have infinite value to me and my husband. They are smart, creative, fun, kind and beautiful. At our house, we do not pay to play with friends. True friends have value beyond any amount of money, and that would be an insult and disrespectful. Even though it can be hurtful, not everyone will care about you or your children. When they show you, believe them.

Every human has infinite value to God, who knew us in our mother’s womb. People won’t always like you. You are too thin, or too fat. Your hair is a mess, or too perfect. Your skin is too dark, or too light. People can judge you. Look down on you. Not value you. It does not matter. God knows your true worth. God knows your heart. God knows your innermost thoughts. God knows who you really are.

God protects his children. Those that try to devour you, will be devoured themselves. Each of your enemies will be captured and taken away. Those who try to steal from you, will get stolen from. Those who try to take advantage of you and prey upon you, will get preyed upon. The Lord will restore your health and heal your wounds. God will reward you and bless you, for all those people that said that nobody wanted you.

‘Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured;
And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity;
Those who plunder you shall become plunder,
And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.
For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,
‘Because they called you an outcast saying:
“This is Zion;
No one seeks her.”
–Jeremiah 30:16-17 (NKJV)

Know that God’s got this. Pray. Ask God to show you what do. Thank God for showing you the truth. When people show their true nature, don’t get mad. Believe them. God created you. God does not make mistakes. You are worthy to God. Know your worth.
