Trusting in God

Fight The Forces Of Darkness With Prayer

Have you ever needed a prayer for help? I sure have. I can be having a great day. I can wake up praising and thanking God, then something happens. Someone says something that snaps my spirit. I wish that I could say that I have an almighty armor to resist being hurt by others, but I don’t. I have to call on God to help me.

If you ever feel like the wind was knocked out of you all of a sudden, you are right. We are not wrestling against flesh and blood. There is spiritual warfare in the heavenly realm. There are evil forces trying to destroy your life. The wicked spirits hate to see you do God’s good work. The dark forces will go to work against you, when you are going to work for God. It is powerful. But, our God is more powerful. Our God can fight for us. Our God can destroy these forces, as the scatter away like dust in the wind.

We can fight the forces of darkness by putting on the whole armor of God. We have to arm ourselves with the truth, by reading scriptures in the bible. We have to hold up our shield of faith against the fiery darts of the wicked one. We have to pray with supplication. We have to humble ourselves to God and the Holy Spirit, knowing that we cannot fight this battle alone. We need God. We have to pray continuously, read the bible and persevere against the lies Satan is whispering in our hearts and minds.

We are in a battle. Satan wants two destroy our happiness. Satan wants to wreck our lives. Satan wants to take away everything good and pure in our lives. If Satan sees us doing God’s work, he teams up with his wicked spirits to attack us. Satan does not want us to be happy. Satan wants us to doubt ourselves and be angry at the world. Satan loves strife and discord. Satan delights in our misery.

God loves us. God wants us to be happy. God wants us to seek him, so we can feel happiness and peace. God wants all that is good for us. Love. Peace. Happiness. Joy. Delight. Laughter.

The Whole Armor of God
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
–Ephesians 6:10-19 (NKJV)

Yesterday, I was feeling great. I was so thankful and grateful. I felt loved and happy. Then, a mean act, meant to hurt me, deflated my mood. I tried not to let it, but it did. I could almost hear those dark forces rejoicing in my sadness, snickering at how they made me feel dejected, unwanted and unloved. They knew my state was of mind was a chance to whisper doubts and fear and more sadness into my mind.

If you ever feel like I felt yesterday, pray to God. Prayers change everything.

In the bible, a prayer for help asks God to rend the heavens, to forcibly rip apart the heavens, leaving jagged edges, so God can come down to earth. There is so much emotion behind these words. It is a desperate plea for God to pour the Holy Spirit upon us, because we long for the Lord. We long for God to fill us up with the Holy Spirit and give our hearts peace. The prayer for help describes the mountains shaking at the Lord’s presence, as fire so easily burns brushwood and fire boils water. When the mountains sense the presence of the almighty Lord, the mountains will shake and tremble. All those that oppose God and resist God will stop in their tracks and tremble in the Lord’s presence.

A Prayer for Help
Oh, that You would rend the heavens!
That You would come down!
That the mountains might shake at Your presence—
As fire burns brushwood,
As fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
–Isaiah 64:1-2 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt so helpless and overpowered by the world? The weight can feel unbearable. You feel powerless against the world and all it is trying to do to you. You feel like an injured person laying helpless and weak, with no hope. We do have hope. Our hope is in the Lord. The Lord can pick us up, restore us and fight our battles for us.

We have to arm ourselves for battle against wicked forces. We have read the bible and pray. We have to be relentless in our faith, prayer and pursuit of God to fight the forces of darkness. Fight the forces of darkness with prayer.
