Luke, Trusting in God

The only thing that we can control is putting our complete trust in God

Good Morning. Last night I had a dream that I found the last package of toilet paper at the store. I bought it, and it was in my shopping cart. On the way out of the store, I stopped to look at laundry detergent. When I turned around, my cart was gone. My purchase was stolen.

We are all probably feeling anxious during this time. It is hard to comprehend this hidden enemy. The Coronavirus has turned our lives upside down. Now  we have to figure out how to juggle staying away from others, getting essentials at the store, if the store is stocked or empty, work, child care and homeschooling. We don’t know when this will be over. We cannot plan ahead. We are not in control.

God is in control.

Jesus told his disciples not to worry about their lives, what they would eat or their clothes. We have to trust that God will take care of our needs, now more than ever. God knows that we need food and clothing. Jesus knew that we don’t always make God our first priority. We focus on only what we can see. Jesus says, “Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.”

Luke12-22-23

Do Not Worry
Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
–Luke 12:22-23 (NKJV)

Jesus told his disciples not to be anxious. Jesus said again not to worry about what we will eat or drink. Instead of worrying about all the things of this world, God wants us to seek him. God knows what we need. When we seek God’s kingdom first, all of things will be given to us.

Luke12-29-31

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
–Luke 12:29-31 (NKJV)

I am having dreams about the things that we need being taken away. I needed to read these passages today.

God does not want us to be afraid. He said, “Do not fear, little flock.” God wants to take care of us. God wants to tend to our every need. God delights in giving us his kingdom.

Luke12-32

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
–Luke 12:32 (NKJV)

When we are in a place of fear and anxiety, it can be hard to let go of control. At the moment, we are not in control. The only thing that we can control is putting our complete trust in God.

Prayer

Dear God,

I pray that you take away our fears and anxiety. Right now, we do not know when this will be over. God, you know. God you are the first and the last. I pray that we will all put our trust in you. You will provide for us. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, so we feel peace, hope and calmness wash over us.

Amen
