Isaiah, John, Trusting in God

Wait With a Smile

Have you ever been so excited and made plans that sounded great, then later you were not sure? Lately, I want to get out of the house and do fun things again. I pray and ask God if these are his plans for me, and I feel a knot in my stomach. Even though I feel that uneasiness, I don’t admit it. I think, ‘I will ask again later.’ Later, I still feel the same knot in my stomach when I pray about it. Uhhh, this is not the answer that I want! I ask my husband’s opinion, and he expresses serious doubts too. My mind feels like a two year old screaming, “I want it! Why can’t I have it?”

For a last and final check, I pray and open up the bible to read God’s word. I read the verses that summarized, say woe to those who devise their own plans and do not seek God’s will.

“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord,
“Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin”

—Isaiah 30:1 (NKJV)

A bit grudgingly, I promise to do God’s will. I know God’s will is always the best. I know that God is protecting me, and I am thankful that God cares enough about me to make that “NO” loud and clear.

Do you ever find it hard to let go of your own wishes and plans and fully embrace the Lord’s will? I have not done God’s will in the past, and that clearly did not work.

I know God’s plan is the best one. God comes all the way through for me. He takes care of every detail, even those I could not imagine. God knows the future and plans for that as well.

Some days, we just have to be steady and faithful. Hold on a bit longer. Wait patiently, for we will see the glory of God in our lives.

Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
—John 11:40 (NKJV)

We have to wait patiently to see God’s glory shine in our lives. Wait with a smile, knowing that it will be worth the wait!
