Waiting On God’s Perfect Timing

Even when we go through hard times or the future looks uncertain, God is still with us. 

Twelve years ago, my husband lost his job when his contract ended. It took 7 months for him to start a new one. It was rough. During that time, I had a difficult surgery and my dad died. It was tough financially and emotionally. At that time, we thought we were practicing Christians, but we had not given our lives to God. I thought we were in control of our lives. Wow, was I wrong. 

This season of my life was one of the hardest, but it reaped the biggest change. 

I read the bible and decided to trust in God. Everything else seemed like falling into the abyss, so I had to hang on to something. I made a choice. I choose God. God took care of every detail. We moved our family to another state. I quit my job and became a stay at home mom. It wasn’t easy. It was a struggle filled with many prayers each day, even after my husband started a new job. I had the greatest gift of staying home with my kids, which I am so endlessly thankful for that opportunity. 

We started attending a new church 9 years ago, and that changed our lives. We took notes every Sunday and hung on every word as the Pastor went through every part of the bible. 

When you choose God, you aren’t free from hard times. So here we are again, my husband’s contract ended at the end of July. This time it is so different. We trust in God with all our hearts. We know it will be ok. We hope and pray that God will give him a great new job, but if not, we will do what God wants us to do. 

God’s faithful love for us never ends. We wake up to new mercies everyday, each morning is a new beginning full of hope and possibilities. I place my hope in the Lord.  God is good to those who have faith in Him. It is good to wait on the Lord. We will pray and wait on God. When others strike us, we will try to turn away and trust in God to fight our battles for us. Even though our future is uncertain, God loves us, so He is compassionate towards us. 

God continues to show us grace, even when we don’t deserve it.  Because I wholeheartedly believe in God’s unfailing love for us, I will wait on His perfect timing. 

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.

Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.

I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”

The Lord is good to those who depend on him,
to those who search for him.

So it is good to wait quietly
for salvation from the Lord.

And it is good for people to submit at an early age
to the yoke of his discipline:

Let them sit alone in silence
beneath the Lord’s demands.

Let them lie face down in the dust,
for there may be hope at last.

Let them turn the other cheek to those who strike them
and accept the insults of their enemies.

For no one is abandoned
by the Lord forever.

Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion
because of the greatness of his unfailing love.
